GENERAL THOUGHTS FOR YOU . . .

HAVE YOU THOUGHT
about having your chimney swept earlier in the year to make sure you get it done before winter?

If you have a suitable rain/bird guard on and it is swept by a reliable chimney sweep, it could be done in the August or September, making sure you are warm and toasty for the onslaught of a British winter (we can supply sun lotion at short notice too!!)
If you have no bird guard though, it may be a pointless exercise as the Jackdaws may have a second nesting, wasting your hard earned money.
WE TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY IT THE CHIMNEY IS SWEPT EARLY AND BIRDS DO NEST AGAIN (FOR EXAMPLE)

IF YOU WOULD LIKE
to be booked in for the same time of year every time, please let
Geoff know when he visits. We will try to remind you just before - 12 months is a long time to expect you to remember something like that!!

Need to know how long 'til Christmas?

March 2013

It's THAT time of year again!
NESTING TIME...
Once again we remind you that if birds are actively nesting, we will not sweep the chimney as there may well be eggs or even young in the nests ( see RSPB link)

NO BIRD GUARD/COWL ON YOUR CHIMNEY? It will be a waste of time any chimney sweep sweeping it if you are prone to birds nesting. As soon as the chimney is clear they just start again!! A meshed bird guard will stop this happening.A one off payment for a suitable cowl on your chimney is surely much better than not being able to use your fire for several weeks (birds can have two broods a year)?

Just for interest, we have been asked through one of the Associations to become CRB registered. This is in hand and we are awaiting the paperwork.

31/1/2013 Update...

Still pretty busy, although as things are starting to quieten down we have decided to take some time off - so get us booked in a.s.a.p if need be.

Feedback from customers seems to suggest you all like the Chimney Sweeping website ( here June stands back & takes a bow!!). Very pleased about this as the whole site was intended to be informative and user friendly. If you have any suggestions (ie: maybe a section is too long winded) then email us & June will take a look.

A very Happy New Year to all our customers - may    2013 prove to be a warm and welcoming one!!

New Year greetings from us all at Chimney Sweep North Devon. We hope your Christmas was a relaxing time despite the terrible weather (funny how our minds 'fade' it all somehow).
For those who were flooded though, clearing up is still underway no doubt - our little stream came halfway up the rough ground behind us - first time in 18 years that's happened. Keep everything crossed for a drier 2013.

Work wise, we are STILL busy (although we did manage to get some time off over the Christmas). Things should be easing off a little towards the end of February so if you would like us to visit please give us a call or email.

November 2012

Still very busy.Booking right into December now. Still regular customers only until after Christmas - sorry

Charges still the same - from £35
  • We said we would be putting up our prices - as yet this hasn't happened. We will seriously have to address the issue next year, but in the current climate we figured why make life even more difficult for people?

  • Heard of Power Sweeping
It's basically a head attachment to certain types of rods operated by a drill inserted into the bottom rod. The head spins as it is inserted into the chimney
We have decided to remain with traditional methods at present.**

----------------------------------------------------------------------

** In Late 2011, we were called by a very disgruntled householder we had never been to before after someone had used a mechanical sweeping systemThis is not in any way an attempt to discredit any company or manufacturer or an inference that the method is unsuitable for use in the chimney sweeping professionbut our policy is and always will be to provide our customers with as much information as possible to ensure the safety and

care of their fires and appliances. Any equipment is effective in the right hands.
